Manuscript Submission Guidelines
Peter Pauper Press, Inc. publishes humor and gift books, stationery, journals,
engagement calendars, personal organizers, and children’s activity
books or novelty formats. We consider proposals or manuscripts for works
in each of these categories.
Before submitting your work, please make sure it would fit our publishing
program by familiarizing yourself with the kinds of books we publish. You
can do this by looking through our Web site, catalog, or our books in a bookstore.
Our target audience is primarily women, and our common themes are celebrating
relationships (e.g., friendship, sisters, mothers, teachers) or special occasions
(e.g., the birth of a child, graduation, wedding, holidays). We also publish
humor.
We do not acquire poetry, short stories, novels, or “how-to” non-fiction.
We will review queries, proposals, and/or manuscripts submitted in the
following manner:
- The work must be original to you. We do not acquire collections
of other people’s (third party) quotes.
- All submitted material must be typed.
- Proposals should include a cover letter describing the work as
a whole, the intended market, how your project differs from the competition,
and information about your credentials if relevant to the work. An
outline and two sample chapters should also be included.
- If photographs/artwork accompany text, they must be color copies
or duplicates marked as such. Do not under any circumstances send
original artwork, as we are not responsible if materials are lost
or damaged.
- Send your material via mail or other carrier. We will not consider
proposals or manuscripts submitted by fax or e-mail.
- If you require a response to a submission, you must enclose a self-addressed,
stamped envelope (SASE) with the correct amount of postage to cover
that portion of material that you wish to have returned.
Please allow a minimum of three months from the time we
receive your material for a written response. Please note that we do not
track receipt of submissions, so if you wish for confirmation of receipt,
please enclose a self-addressed, stamped postcard. The postcard will be returned
upon our receipt of your materials, before we evaluate the submission.
