Deborah Marcero received her BFA in drawing and photography from the University of Michigan, and her MFA in poetry from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her debut children's picture book, Ursa's Light, received a Starred Review from Booklist, which described it as ''a visual standout.'' Rosie and Crayon is Deborah's second Peter Pauper Press picture book.

''Buoyant, decorative aesthetic.''

''The artist’s simple linework is skillful, offering an appealing character across a range of perspectives, actions, and framings . . . she delves into a difficult topic with lush descriptions and empathy.''

''Marcero’s simple illustrations sometimes fill up the page and sometimes offer closer focus on individual characters, adding emotional intensity.''

''Excellent tool for teaching writing and discussing the use of descriptive words . . . Young children will relate to this gentle story about love and loss.''
